Finding Purpose and Fulfillment in Work
This is something that took me my whole life to figure out:
The key to being happy in your career is doing exactly what you want.
Not what you’re told to do.
Not what you think you should do.
What you want to do.
The hard part for many people, myself included, is figuring out what they want to do.
That’s okay.
Oftentimes, there is trial and error involved.
Some people know what they want from a young age.
For others, it’s an iterative process that takes years or even decades.
It takes patience to reach the Promised Land.
Patience is a sign of maturity.
An immature person wants everything all at once.
A mature person embraces the fact that life is a process.
It may take time to get where you want to go – a thousand small steps rather than one giant leap.
But you will ultimately go where your focus and your actions take you.
So: focus on what you want to do, make sure your actions consistently take you in that direction, be patient, and you will get there eventually.
And remember that every struggle just makes success that much sweeter.
