The End of An Era: Moving to Baja

This is what the end of an era looks like.

A bunch of boxes about to be shipped to Baja California.

Carefully packed in bubble wrap and marked fragile.

Hopefully, they all make it there.

The hardest part is done: packing and shipping.

The rest is a bus ride and a couple plane flights.

It’s going to be a long slog, but hopefully enjoyable.

Time to reflect. Time to plan. Time to dream.

Sometimes, a good thing must end so something else can take it’s place.

It’s part of evolution.

Nobody evolves standing still.

Change is often necessary for growth.

They go hand in hand.

Big growth often requires big changes.

Big changes often require facing fear.

Fear of the unknown.

Fear of failure.

And the most dangerous of all:

Fear of success.

Fear that your wildest dreams will come true.

Fear that you have everything you need to be more successful than you ever imagined.

That is the most dangerous fear of all.

It’s much easier to play small. Make excuses. Procrastinate.

Justify staying stuck by saying you don’t have enough time, money, or talent.

Distract yourself with less important work.

Keep surviving at the cost of thriving.

Sometimes it’s necessary to leave an entire life behind to move on to the next one.

I’m not just leaving behind an empty condo.

I’m leaving behind an old version of myself.

The new version is sharper, hungrier, wiser, and more experienced.

I grew tremendously at this place.

In many ways.

My time here served its purpose.

But now, the time is up.

Now, it’s time to reach new levels.
