Sundown – Gordon Lightfoot
I was in high school when I first discovered Gordon Lightfoot. I remember riding around in my buddy’s Chevy truck listening to Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, Carefree Highway, and The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. When I listen to Gordon Lightfoot I am taken back to those days and feel as those they happened yesterday – when in reality that was more than twenty years ago.
Gordon was a great storyteller, and he could tell an entire story in one song – with vivid imagery. He could speak volumes in a few words. That, to me, is the mark of a great writer. I will remember Gordon as a true singer/songwriter and one of all-time favorite Canadians.
