My Rooftop in Tijuana

Ya’ll know nothing about Tijuana.

Maybe you got blacked out here when you were in college.

I did, too.

But that’s not the real Tijuana.

There is real life here.

There is real business here.

There are real people here.

I don’t have a car, and I don’t want one.

I walk everywhere.

I’ve learned the streets.

I know where to get the best tacos, the best fish, and the best pho.

I know where to go play pickleball with an ocean view.

I know the regulars at the gym, and they know me.

I know where I go to pray, and where I go to cry – they are the same place.

I know where to find faith, hope, and love.

Ya’ll know nothing about TJ.

But I will show you a few things.

Video: My roof is one of my favorite places here in TJ.

Panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, San Diego, the U.S.-Mexico border, and the hills of Tijuana.

I come up here every day to think – or not think at all.

One time, we saw UFOs up here at night. I shit you not.
