How Physical Training Makes You Better At Business
Today I ran 5 miles in 26:57.
That’s a 5:23 pace.
I ran 5 miles at a 5:23 pace at 41 years-old.
I wasn’t even planning on setting a PR today.
The first 4 minutes was just a warm-up.
After 4 minutes, my legs felt good. So I turned up the heat.
Last week I ran 5 miles in 27:45 – a personal record.
Today, I knew I could beat that time.
So I did. By a whopping 48 seconds.
No trophy. No cheers. No prize money.
Just the satisfaction of knowing that my will is unbreakable.
I would take that over trophies, fame, and prize money any day (although I wouldn’t complain about trophies, fame, or prize money if I received them).
I am the strongest and fastest I have ever been at 41 years old.
No steroids.
No TRT.
No GLP-1.
No hormones.
No peptides.
No supplements.
Just an unbreakable will and decades of good eating and training habits.
Physical training is mental training, and it also builds willpower.
That’s why I think physical training is so great for business.
Physical training builds the most important characteristic you need in business – willpower.
Willpower is what separates the winners from the losers.
There are people who are successful in business, and there are people who gave up too soon. That’s it. There’s no one else.
The best business people I have ever met have one thing in common: an unbreakable will.
They’re unstoppable.
Nothing builds that mechanism better than physical training.
Showing up when you don’t feel like it.
Powering through your workout when you’re tired.
Pushing through perceived limitations.
Doing those things doesn’t just strengthen your mind and your body.
It strengthens your soul.
It strengthens the core of who you are as a person.
So that when it’s time to decide whether to quit or answer the bell, you answer the bell.
Because that’s what you do.
That’s who you are.
You don’t know any other way.
You wouldn’t be yourself if you didn’t.
That’s willpower.
That’s what training does for me.
It gives me an edge that I can’t find anywhere else.
